9. Advertising in detail

This site is supported by advertising supplied through Google AdSense. The sections below set out, in plain terms, what that means for you.

9.1 Google's use of cookies

Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve advertisements on this site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve advertisements to you based on your visit to this site and to other sites on the internet.

9.2 Personalised advertising and how to turn it off

You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings page. Turning personalisation off does not remove advertising from this site; it means the advertisements you see are selected without reference to your prior browsing. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising through the industry opt-out pages operated by the Network Advertising Initiative and the Digital Advertising Alliance.

9.3 Third-party vendors

Third-party vendors and advertising networks other than Google may also serve advertisements on this site. Those vendors set and read their own cookies, web beacons and similar technologies, and their handling of that information is governed by their own privacy policies rather than this one. We do not control, and cannot inspect, what those vendors collect.

9.4 What advertising cookies can and cannot see

Advertising technologies operate at the level of the page. They can record that a browser visited a particular page at a particular time, along with information the browser sends to any server it contacts, such as an IP address, a user-agent string and a referring page. They cannot see the contents of files you process with the tools on this site, because those files are never sent to a server at all — the processing happens inside your browser.

10. Measurement and analytics

We use aggregate analytics to understand which pages are visited and how the site performs. This produces counts and trends: how many people opened a given page, roughly where in the world they were, which device category they used, and how quickly pages loaded. It is used to decide what to write next and what to fix, not to build a profile of any individual. Analytics providers set their own cookies and are subject to their own privacy terms.

If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, or you use a content blocker or a privacy-focused browser, analytics and advertising scripts may not load at all. The tools on this site are designed to work regardless, because none of their functionality depends on those scripts.

11. Why your files stay private by design, not by promise

Most privacy policies ask you to trust an assurance that uploaded files are deleted after processing. This site does not need that assurance, because there is no upload. Each tool reads the file you select using the browser's own file APIs, performs the work in the page using JavaScript and WebAssembly, and hands the result back as a download.

You do not have to take our word for it. Two checks are available to anyone:

This applies to the file-handling tools, the calculators and the converters alike. Values you type into a calculator — a loan amount, a weight, a date of birth — are used only to compute a result on screen and are not transmitted or stored.

12. Data we hold, and for how long

CategoryHeld?Retention
Files you process with the toolsNo — never leaves your deviceNot applicable
Values typed into calculatorsNoNot applicable
User accounts or passwordsNo accounts exist on this siteNot applicable
Messages you send us via the contact pageYes, the message and your reply addressKept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry

Some tools may use your browser's local storage to remember a preference such as a chosen unit or a recently used setting. That data stays on your device and is cleared when you clear your browser's site data.

13. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of personal data relating to you, to object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. Because this site does not operate accounts and does not receive your files, the personal data we actually hold is generally limited to any correspondence you have sent us.

To exercise a right, or to ask what we hold, contact us using the details on the contact page and describe your request. We will respond within the period required by the applicable law. If you are dissatisfied with our response, you may complain to your local data protection authority.

For cookies set by advertising and analytics vendors, the most direct route is your browser's cookie controls, which allow you to block or delete third-party cookies entirely, together with the vendor opt-out pages described in section 9.

14. Security and international transfers

The site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Because your files are processed locally and are not transmitted, the principal security risk associated with online file tools — data in transit or at rest on a third-party server — does not arise here.

Where advertising, analytics or hosting providers process information on our behalf, that processing may take place on servers located outside your country, including in jurisdictions with different data protection laws. Those providers are responsible for the safeguards applicable to such transfers under their own terms.

15. Links to other sites

Pages on this site may link to external resources, and advertisements may lead to sites we do not operate. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those destinations. We would encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit through a link or an advertisement.

16. Questions

If anything in this policy is unclear, or if you want to know more about how a particular tool handles your data, please get in touch through the contact page. We would rather answer a question than have you guess.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are my files uploaded to your servers?

No. Every tool on this site processes files inside your browser. You can verify this by watching the Network panel in developer tools while using a tool, or by disconnecting from the internet after the page loads and using it anyway.

Do you use cookies?

The site itself uses minimal storage. Advertising and analytics providers, including Google, set their own cookies. You can block or delete third-party cookies through your browser settings at any time.

How do I stop seeing personalised advertisements?

Use Google's Ads Settings page to turn off ad personalisation, and the Network Advertising Initiative or Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out pages for other vendors. Advertisements will still appear, but will not be selected based on your browsing.

Do I need an account to use the tools?

No. There are no accounts, no sign-in and no passwords on this site, so there is no account data to hold or to breach.

What personal data do you actually hold about me?

In practice, only any message you have sent us through the contact page, plus standard server request logs kept by the hosting provider. Your files and calculator inputs are never received by us at all.

Can I ask you to delete my data?

Yes. Contact us through the contact page describing your request and we will respond within the period required by the applicable law. Cookies set by advertising vendors are best removed through your browser's cookie controls.

Is this site suitable for children?

The site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Parents who believe a child has sent us personal information should contact us so it can be removed.

How will I know if this policy changes?

The effective date shown on this page is updated whenever the policy changes. Material changes will be reflected here, so it is worth checking the date if you are relying on a specific provision.
